african bullfrog

2026

Foam, fiber glass, resin, polly cam.

Inspired by the naturalistic animal models at the American Museum of Natural History, this bullfrog sculpture bridges traditional fabrication and digital processes. The piece was hand-sculpted and textured in clay, molded in silicone with a fiberglass jacket, and cast as a fiberglass, foam-filled final. It was then hand-painted using airbrush and brush techniques, finished with a semi-gloss to achieve a lifelike wet-skin effect. The completed sculpture was 3D scanned using Polycam and printed at one-tenth scale in 8K resin, demonstrating how digital tools can extend and refine traditional sculptural workflows.
