Digital Sociology Study is a networked VR installation that examines how digital environments influence social behavior through feedback systems. Two participants enter one of four open-ended virtual worlds—designed to prompt activities like dancing, building, or painting—without explicit instruction. Their interactions unfold naturally, shaped not only by each other but also by a hidden third participant: the audience.

Viewing the experience through an arcade-style interface, the audience controls the environment in real-time—altering lighting, sound, tools, and even the players’ avatars, including gender presentation. They respond with buzzers and sound effects, indirectly guiding behavior through signals of approval or disapproval.

The piece explores how anonymity, constrained communication, and digital embodiment reshape social interaction. It asks whether stripped of identity and structure, people connect more authentically—or unravel. Ultimately, the work becomes a live experiment in how we perform, adapt, and relate under unseen influence.
